- Where it is. Cruise Terminal Rotterdam is at Wilhelminakade 699 on the Kop van Zuid, the peninsula on the south bank of the Maas, right next to the historic Hotel New York and a short walk from the Erasmus Bridge.
- Times in port. The terminal publishes its schedule of ship calls. Day calls in the published schedule tend to run from early morning until late afternoon or early evening, but every ship is different. Check your own ship’s all-aboard time.
- Day in port or turnaround. Some cruises stop in Rotterdam for a day; others begin or end their voyage here. If yours starts or finishes in Rotterdam, a night in a hotel before or after is the most relaxed option.
One important point: I can’t visit you on board. Cruise lines don’t allow outside visitors onto the ship, and that’s as it should be. A date always takes place in a hotel room you book on land, or at a home address.
Getting around from the terminal is easy. Wilhelminaplein metro station is a few minutes’ walk away, with direct lines to Rotterdam Centraal, and water taxis leave from the quay nearby. If you’d rather not go far, everything on the Kop van Zuid, from the cafés on the Wilhelminapier to the views from the Erasmus Bridge, is within walking distance.
A day in port with a male companion

- Book a room near the terminal. Markthal and the Cube Houses
The horseshoe-shaped market hall near Blaak, with its huge painted ceiling, and the tilted yellow Cube Houses right next to it. Good for a casual lunch.
Fenix, Katendrecht
A museum about migration in a former port warehouse, opened in May 2025, with the Tornado, a spiralling staircase you can climb for views across the river. Katendrecht itself, once a rough sailors’ district, is now full of restaurants.
Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen
The mirrored, bowl-shaped art depot in the Museumpark, where you can see how a museum stores its collection. The rooftop has a restaurant and a small forest.
Water taxi and the Maas
The quickest, and most fun, way to cross the river. A water taxi gets you from the Kop van Zuid to the old harbours or Katendrecht in minutes.

Before or after your cruise
If your voyage begins or ends in Rotterdam, you may have a night in the city, alone or as a couple. That’s the easiest time for a longer date.
- The night before. Dinner in Katendrecht or by the Maas, a walk over the Erasmus Bridge, and a relaxed evening in your room. Board the next morning rested.
- The night after. Back on land after a week or two at sea, it can be lovely to have someone to talk to and be close to before you fly home.
